OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

Home > CFR Prayer > Our Lady of Guadlaupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of the Institute, and each friar is consecrated to her under this title.
(CFR Constitutions, 36)

Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared in 1531 to a peasant named St. Juan Diego. Through her presence in Mexico she brought with her the presence of her Son. This brought new life and renewal to the peoples and lands of Central and South America. She is the patroness of the New Evangelisation and of those in pro-life advocacy. Her image adorns all of the Friary chapels.
"Am I not here, I, who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need anything more?"
